Fiva and Limbacher win World Cup ski cross events

LES CONTAMINES, France (AP) — Alex Fiva of Switzerland won his second straight ski cross event to move ahead of countryman Armin Niederer in the overall freestyle World Cup standings, while Andrea Limbacher of Austria secured her first victory of the season in the women’s event.

Fiva followed up his win in Innichen, Italy, just before Christmas by beating Filip Flisar of Slovenia. Czech skier Tomas Kraus was third, while Niederer finished sixth. In the overall men’s standings, Fiva has 344 points to Niederer’s 313.

Limbacher beat Sweden’s Anna Holmlund, with overall World Cup leader Fanny Smith of Switzerland in third.

Smith leads the standings with 396 points, ahead of Holmlund (245) and Limbacher (238).
