Girls basketball: Skyview 56, Evergreen 47

A 10-point advantage in the third quarter turned the Class 4A Greater St. Helens League game for the visiting Storm.

Evergreen led by seven after the first quarter and by two at halftime, but was limited to only six points in the third quarter. Nine of Skyview’s 16 points in the third quarter came from the free-throw line.

The Storm (7-7, 3-0) used defensive double teams to try to slow down Deja Nicholas, who finished with 28 points for the Plainsmen. Nicholas also had four assists and a team-high 10 rebounds for Evergreen (8-4, 1-2).

The Skyview offense was balanced. Aubrey Ward-El and Gen Lo had 14 points apiece for the Storm, and Stephanie McDonagh scored 10.
