LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) — Shawn Long posted a dominant double-double to lead Louisiana-Lafayette to a 61-56 victory over Arkansas State Saturday night in a Sun Belt Conference game.

Long scored a game-high 17 points and also grabbed 16 rebounds for the Ragin’ Cajuns (7-12, 3-5). They led 33-24 at halftime and extended their lead to 13 points midway through the second half before the Red Wolves closed the gap — but never quite enough.

For Arkansas State (10-7, 4-4), Trey Finn led the way with 15 points. Cameron Golden and Raeford Worsham came off the bench to score 13 and 12 points, respectively, and give the Red Wolves a 27-8 advantage in bench scoring.

For the Ragin’ Cajuns, Long got help from Elfrid Payton and Kasey Shepherd, who scored 13 points apiece.

Louisiana-Lafayette made 6 of 15 3-pointers, three by Shepherd. Arkansas State was just 4 for 18 on treys.
