Reed, Georgia Southern upset Davidson 70-57

STATESBORO, Ga. (AP) — C.J. Reed had 16 points and five assists to lead sharp-shooting Georgia Southern in a 70-57 upset victory over Davidson Monday night for its first Southern Conference win of the season.

Reed was 7-of-15 shooting and 2 of 4 from 3-point range as the Eagles (7-10, 1-3) made 53.1 percent (26 of 49) from the floor and 5 of 10 from deep. Eric Ferguson added 14 points and Marvin Baynham had 10.

Georgia Southern took control with an 11-1 run midway through the second half.

The Eagles outscored the Wildcats 26-10 in the paint and 23-11 off the bench.

Davidson (9-7, 4-1) had been in sole possession of first in the SoCon’s South division, but fell into a tie with the College of Charleston.

The Wildcats shot 36.4 percent (20 of 55). Chris Czerapowicz scored 13 points, and Nik Cochran had six points and six of the team’s 12 assists.
