Blue lifts Vermont over Binghamton 61-37

BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) — Trey Blue came off the bench for a career-high 19 points and Brian Voelkel pulled down 15 boards to lead Vermont in a 61-37 rout of America East Conference foe Binghamton on Wednesday night.

Voelkel also dished out seven assists and Clancy Rugg scored 16 points for Vermont (11-6, 4-1), winners of four of its last five.

Jordan Reed and Roland Brown scored 10 apiece for Binghamton, which shot just 39 percent (16 of 41) in its 12th straight loss.

Vermont shot an identical 11 of 27 in each half but made five 3-pointers in the opening stanza en route to a 34-22 lead at the break. The Catamounts led by 15 three different times in the second half and extended their lead to 20 on a Voelkel layup with 7:31 left to play.

Binghamton (2-16, 0-5), which made 10 of 20 first-half shots, scored just 15 points after intermission.
