The Storm made several key defensive stops — and just enough free throws — to edge the visiting Titans in a Class 4A Greater St. Helens League game.

Brian Brady made a 3-pointer with about 90 seconds left to put Skyview up four, and the Storm made three foul shots down the stretch to hold off Union. The Titans hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to make the final score a one-point margin.

It was the first league win for Skyview (7-7, 1-3) and the first league loss for Union (9-5. 3-1).

Jordan Berni scored 13 points and Keegan Liebelt 11 to pace a balanced Skyview offense. The Storm had eight players score, and won despite making only eight of their 20 free throws.

“The biggest thing was we had a balanced scoring attack,” Skyview coach Adam Horn said. “We had everybody in the game contributing.”

Tyler Copp scored 23 points for Union and Kyle Mercer added 12 points.

Another key, according to Horn, was the Storm’s strong ball-handling against the Titans defensive pressure. Skyview beat the Union press for several transition baskets.

Reiley Henderson had four assists and Brady had a team-high six rebounds for the Storm.
