No. 25 Michigan women beat Northwestern 67-53

EVANSTON, Ill. (AP) — Kate Thompson scored 23 points to lead No. 25 Michigan over Northwestern 67-53 Thursday night, extending the Wolverines’ winning streak to 10, matching its longest in program history.

Thompson was 7 of 10 from 3-point range. Nya Jordan added 12 points. Nicole Elmblad had nine rebounds, and Jenny Ryan had seven assists for Michigan (15-2, 4-0 Big Ten)

Michigan led 29-23 at halftime and never trailed in the game. Michigan shot 45 percent from the field, while Northwestern shot 37.9 percent. The Wolverines outrebounded the Wildcats 40-25.

Kendall Hackney led Northwestern (8-9, 0-4) with 18 points, and Karly Roser added 12 points and six assists. Maggie Lyon also had six assists. Alex Cohen led with seven rebounds.

The Wolverines won 10 in a row during the 2001-02 season.

Michigan has won the last six games against the Wildcats.
