PORTLAND — A Portland sex offender whose victims include a 12-year-old girl who was made pregnant was sentenced Thursday to more than 18 years in prison.

Multnomah County Circuit Court Judge Karin J. Immergut called 37-year-old Otha Banks a serial pedophile and danger to the community.

The Oregonian reports Banks pleaded guilty in October to second-degree rape of the 12-year-old and pleaded no contest to sex abuse charges involving two other young girls.

During the court hearing, Banks suggested the girls’ relatives were at fault for not keeping closer watch over them.

He also told the court he has 13 children and said sending him to prison leaves them fatherless.
