SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Cole Dickerson scored 18 points Saturday to help San Francisco get its first West Coast Conference win of the season, 62-53 over Loyola Marymount.

Avry Holmes added 11 points for the Dons (8-11, 1-5), who won despite shooting 33 percent from the field — slightly better than the 32 percent they shot Thursday in a loss to Santa Clara. San Francisco avoided becoming the first Dons team to lose its first six WCC games since the 1991-92 team lost its first seven.

Anthony Ireland had 13 points for the Lions (8-11, 1-5) but missed a game-tying 3-pointer with 1:04 left, and USF made enough free throws in the final minute to seal the victory. Bruce English chipped in 12 for the Lions, who made just 28 percent of their shots and were 2 of 20 from 3-point range.

USF now holds a 106-38 lead in the series between the schools.
