Pedestrian killed, 4 others hurt in Portland crash

One pedestrian is dead and four others hospitalized after a taxi cab and a pickup crashed in the intersection of Northwest Fifth Avenue and Everett Street in Portland’s Chinatown.

Police say one of the vehicles traveled onto the sidewalk after the crash at about 2:30 a.m. Sunday, striking the pedestrians.

One person died at the scene. The conditions of the others were not immediately known.

Both drivers remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
