What’s the buzz from the world of sports? Here are some items that will have people talking:

Seattle Times columnist Steve Kelley was a little excited Sunday night about the imminent return of the NBA to Seattle. He wrote:
How about a couple of years of nostalgia in the Key before the team moves into the new arena in SoDo?
How about the return home of former Seattleites, Isaiah Thomas and Aaron Brooks, who play in the Kings’ backcourt? And, are you sitting down? How about the return to the NBA of Phil Jackson?
The rumor floating in NBA cyberspace — and there are seemingly hundreds of them right now — is that Jackson would run the team, not from the bench but from the front office.
It might be a Te’o-sized hoax, but imagine the kind of coaching staff Jackson might be able to put together.

Baltimore Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis has already said he is going to retire at the end of the NFL season except that the season keeps going for the Ravens. They will be in the Super Bowl.
Atlanta Falcons tight end Tony Gonzalez could not quite get to the Super Bowl and has said he is “likely” done after 16 seasons. (He kept saying Sunday it was “probably” his last game.)
Both careers will be celebrated, one day, in Canton.

The hype begins. … Only one week until the Pro Bowl!
The game this year comes with the slogan: “We promise to play hard.”
Commissioner Roger Goodell said in October that there were talks to cancel the game after last year’s defenseless 59-41 contest.
Star players usually schedule optional surgery so they don’t have to play, the media isn’t a big fan of the game, and most educated NFL fans aren’t fans of the Pro Bowl.
So why hasn’t it been cancelled?
Because, believe it or not, it gets big television ratings.
