Loyola (MD) defeats Fairfield 65-60

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (AP) — Dylon Cormier scored 21 points and Erik Etherly added 16 as both players crossed the 1,000-point threshold at Loyola (MD) in the Greyhounds’ 65-60 win over Fairfield on Monday night in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play.

Cormier and Etherly combined to make 17 of Loyola’s 24 free throws. Loyola (14-6, 6-2) fell one free throw short of its season-high 25, which was set in the Greyhounds’ Jan 11. win against Fairfield.

Derek Needham had 23 points and Amadou Sidibe posted 12 points and 11 rebounds for Fairfield (10-10, 2-6), which has lost five straight after winning its previous six games.

Fairfield trailed 33-32 at intermission but missed nine of their first 11 shots and committed five turnovers over the first 10 minutes of the second half as Loyola built a 50-40 advantage.

The Stags cut the deficit to 61-58 with 1:14 left but didn’t score again until the 3-second mark.
