LAS CRUCES, N.M. (AP) — Tyrone Watson scored 12 points, grabbed six rebounds and New Mexico State outlasted Denver 53-42 on Wednesday night.
New Mexico State (13-8, 7-2 WAC) shot only 36.5 percent from the field, making 19 of 52 attempts, but was 12 for 18 from the free-throw line and out-rebounded the Pioneers 41-24.
Denver had similar luck from the field, making only 40.9 percent and was a dismal 3 for 18 from beyond the arc.
The Aggies led 29-22 at halftime and led by as many as 17 points with just over 4 minutes to go in the game.
