DOVER, Del. (AP) — Tahj Tate scored 19 points and Delaware State took advantage of Howard’s woeful second-half shooting for a 63-46 victory Wednesday night in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference game.

Tate scored 14 of his 19 points in the second half when the Hornets (7-10, 2-1), leading 30-27 at halftime after Tyshawn Bell’s 3-pointer at the buzzer, coasted home. Delaware State opened the second half on a 10-0 run to take a 40-27 lead. It only got worse from there for Howard (4-17, 1-6).

The Bison made just 4 of 30 shots from the floor in the second half, a 13.3 shooting percentage. That doomed Howard to a fifth straight loss and ninth in the last 10 games.

Simuel Frazier was the only Bison in double figures with 15 points, 12 coming in the last 5 minutes of play. For the Hornets, Bell’s 14 points included three treys. Marques Oliver added 10 points.
