Robert Morris cruises past Mount St. Mary’s 76-68

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. (AP) — Karvell Anderson scored 22 points, and Robert Morris rode an 18-4 spurt in the first half to a 76-68 victory over Mount St. Mary’s in a Northeast Conference game on Saturday night.

Russell Johnson chipped in 14 points for Robert Morris (14-7, 6-2), who have won five in a row. Anderson was 7 of 11 from the field.

Shivaughn Wiggins and Julian Norfleet had 21 points apiece for the Mountaineers (7-12, 2-6), who have lost four of their past five.

From a 6-all tie, the Colonials’ Anderson made two 3-pointers and a layup on the way to a 24-10 advantage with 8:25 left in the first half. The Colonials led 33-22 at the half and were up 54-36 on Mike McFadden’s layup with 11:54 to go.

The Mountaineers closed to within six points, 74-68, with 24 seconds left, but Robert Morris was never in danger of losing.
