Jacksonville State holds off Murray State 65-64

JACKSONVILLE, Ala. (AP) — Brian Williams had 17 points and made the game-winning free throws to lift Jacksonville State over Murray State 65-64 in Ohio Valley Conference play Saturday.

Ronnie Boggs and Tarvin Gaines scored 13 points apiece, and Mason Leggett added 12 for Jacksonville State (14-7, 6-4).

Tied at 57-all, Ronnie Boggs made a 3-pointer and Leggett made a pair of free throws to put Jacksonville State ahead 62-57 with 40 seconds left.

Stacy Wilson’s 3-pointer brought the Racers within two, 62-60, with 30 seconds to play.

After a free throw extended it to 63-60, Canaan made a pair of free throws to make it a one-point game, 63-62, with 12 seconds remaining.

Brandon Garrett’s jumper gave Murray State the lead 64-63 with 9 seconds left, but Williams made two free throws with 2 seconds left to give the Gamecocks the victory.

Isaiah Canaan led the Racers (15-5, 6-2) with 20 points.
