2012.
In the small towns of Camas and Washougal, it was an eventful year filled with ups and downs, exciting special events and unexpected tragedies. These important moments were all documented on the pages of the Camas-Washougal Post-Record newspaper, as they have been since 1908.
January saw the announcement of the retirement of longtime Camas City Administrator Lloyd Halverson, and nearly 12 months later the hiring of his successor Nina Regor.
There was also the fulfillment of long-held dreams, like when standout soccer player Brent Richards earned a spot on the professional Portland Timbers soccer team; when Alexa Efraimson won a state cross country championship; and the CHS Knowledge Bowl team proved again that it’s the best in the state.
The year brought completion to the major Highway 14 safety improvement project, and destruction to local landmark Riverside Bowl. And the mayors of the neighboring cities decided to put themselves in the spotlight by trying to get healthy and lose weight during a year-long challenge.
