BOSTON (AP) — R.J. Hunter matched his career high with 27 points as Georgia State ended Northeastern’s unbeaten Colonial Athletic Association run 78-73 Wednesday night.

Georgia State (11-12, 6-4) trailed 46-39 at halftime but went ahead 54-52 on Hunter’s 3-pointer with 13:55 left. The bucket came amid a 24-2 run that put the Panthers up 66-54 with 7:49 remaining. Hunter scored 13 points during that span, including a trio of 3-pointers.

Northeastern (13-8, 8-1) pulled back within 70-69 with 2:22 left, but made just 1 of 3 shots in the final 2 minutes while Georgia State hit 6 of 8 free throws.

Reggie Spencer scored 17 points for the Huskies, who had their eight-game winning streak snapped. Northeastern was attempting to match its best conference start in program history — a 9-0 start in ECAC North play in 1986-87.

The Panthers shot 50.9 percent (28 of 55), including 11 of 26 on 3-pointers.
