Washougal — Washougal was the winner of a friendly New Year’s Day fitness competition with Camas, drawing more participants in a 5K race that morning than the neighboring city. Nearly 200 runners from both cities took part in the event. Because Washougal had a stronger showing it won the “City Spirit” trophy, which will be displayed at the city’s high school until a new winner is chosen next year. The run was hosted by local businesses Fat2Fit, Clark County Plumbing and Snap Fitness. The day’s events also included a performance by singer Alexis Miller, a raffle and a kids dash.
