Groselle leads The Citadel past Wofford 69-63

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — Mike Groselle scored a season-high 24 points, P.J. Horgan had 16 points and 10 rebounds, and The Citadel held off Wofford 69-63 in a Southern Conference game on Thursday night, snapping an 11-game losing streak against the Terriers.

Matt Van Scyoc scored 10 points and Marshall Harris III had 10 assists with six points for the Bulldogs (5-15, 2-8). Groselle also had seven rebounds, four assists and two steals.

Karl Cochran had 15 points, Spencer Collins 14 and Lee Skinner 12 for Wofford (8-14, 2-7).

The Citadel took the lead for good at 43-42 on Van Scyoc’s two free throws with 14:37 remaining.

The Bulldogs built it to 58-49 with 8:31 to go, but the Terriers closed to 66-63 on Skinner’s layup at the 1:20 mark.

The Citadel shot 55.6 percent from the field (26 of 46) to Wofford’s 39.6 (24 of 61).
