Johnson, Belmont down Morehead State 93-74

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Kerron Johnson made a career-high 19 free throws in 21 attempts and tied a career best with 25 points as Belmont won 93-74 over Ohio Valley Conference-foe Morehead State on Thursday night.

The last time Johnson scored 25 points, he also made 16 of 19 free throws in a win over Mercer on Dec. 3, 2011.

Johnson also had seven steals Thursday.

The win was the 16th straight home victory for Belmont (18-4, 9-0), which has won nine straight overall.

Ian Clark, the Bruins’ leading scorer averaging 19.2 points, notched 18 points on 6-of-9 shooting.

Angelo Warner, who scored a career-high 24 points on 16-of-18 free-throw shooting against Tennessee State last time out, notched 16 points on 6-of-13 shooting for the Eagles (11-12, 5-4).

The victory marked the sixth time Belmont has scored more than 85 points in a game this season.

Morehead State committed 24 turnovers to Belmont’s 13.
