The Vancouver Urban Forestry Commission wants to hear stories about “Tree Heroes” worthy of the third annual Mac Awards.

The award is given to individuals, organizations and businesses that have made a significant, positive impact on Vancouver’s urban forest.

The deadline is March 18.

The award is named for the late Gordon MacWilliams, a former Urban Forestry commissioner, in honor of his strong commitment to tree stewardship.

Activities worthy of recognition include organizing a tree-planting project, educating others about the benefits of trees, preserving trees during development, donating time and/or money to advance the mission of the Urban Forestry program, developing creative partnerships in community forestry or any other activity that inspires community stewardship of the urban forest.

The annual Mac Awards will be presented during the city of Vancouver’s Arbor Day celebration on April 11.

For a submission form, go to Urban Forestry or call 360-487-8308.
