HOUSTON (AP) — IndyCar team owner A.J. Foyt will miss Sunday’s race at Pocono after having hip replacement surgery Monday in Houston.

The four-time Indianapolis 500 winner has not attended an IndyCar race since Fort Worth on June 8 after a fall at his ranch left him with significant pain in his left leg. He is expected to spend the next few days in the hospital and said in a news release that he will watch the race on television.

It’s the second major surgery Foyt has had this season. He also had back surgery in April, causing him to miss the three races leading up to Indianapolis — the race that made him a household name in racing.
