Camas — A Camas High School student won $1,000 from the American Veterinary Medical Association for studying a potential link between bisphenol A, often referred to as BPA, and hearing loss in humans. Meghal Sheth used small zebrafish as a model to study causes of “mechanosensory hair cell death and hearing loss in humans.” She presumed that synthetic compound BPA may be a cause of hearing loss. She won the award May 15 at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair in Phoenix, Ariz.
