A group advocating for comprehensive immigration reform participated in a 12-hour fast on Wednesday outside the Vancouver office of U.S. Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler, R-Camas.Members of the group, OneAmerica, said they want the U.S. House of Representatives to pass immigration reform that includes a pathway to citizenship for those who live in the U.S. but are not legally citizens. The Senate recently passed such immigration reform legislation.

A similar fast also took place in Spokane on Wednesday outside the district office of U.S. Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers, R-Spokane. OneAmerica is targeting their message toward Herrera Beutler and McMorris Rodgers because both lawmakers have discussed rebranding the GOP’s image and reaching out to Hispanic voters.
