Columbia Way — Vancouver’s Water Resources Education Center won a Green Apple Award last month, a statewide honor given to individuals, groups or agencies that provide environmental education. It is awarded by E3 Washington, a sustainability initiative developed by the nonprofit Environmental Education Association of Washington. The Water Center won in the government agency category for its efforts to provide “engaging environmental exhibits and programs to their local community,” according to a press release. Each year, more than 3,000 students visit the center, which is part of the city’s Public Works department.
