HARRISON, N.J. (AP) — Rony Martinez and Marvin Chavez scored to lead Honduras to a 2-0 win over Haiti in the first round of the CONCACAF Gold Cup on Monday night.

Mario Martinez made a through pass to Rony Martinez, who was in front of Haitian goalkeeper Frandy Montrevil and took a powerful high shot to open the scoring in the third minute.

Honduras made it 2-0 on a goal by Chavez, who came off the bench. Bryan Beckeles made a low cross from the right wing and Chavez took a shot that found its way to the back of the net.

Haiti and Honduras are in Group B with Trinidad and Tobago and El Salvador. Trinidad and Tobago will play Haiti in its next match and Honduras will face El Salvador. Both matches will be Friday in Miami.
