Nationals acquire Hairston from Cubs

CHICAGO (AP) — The Washington Nationals have acquired outfielder Scott Hairston from the Chicago Cubs for minor league pitcher Ivan Pineyro.

The Cubs announced the deal on Monday.

Hairston batted .172 with eight home runs and 19 RBIs after agreeing to a two-year deal with Chicago. The Cubs have also traded Scott Feldman, Carlos Marmol and Steve Clevenger in the past week.

Pineyro, a 21-year-old right-hander, has combined to go 6-3 with a 3.24 ERA in 15 starts between Class-A Hagerstown and Potomac.
