SEATTLE (AP) — The Boston Red Sox added needed depth to its bullpen calling up right-handers Steven Wright and Pedro Beato.

The Red Sox made the moves Wednesday before facing the Seattle Mariners. Boston optioned starter Allen Webster and reliever Alfredo Aceves to Triple-A Pawtucket to clear roster spots.

The decision to send out Webster leaves the Red Sox needing a starter for Sunday’s game at Oakland. Manager John Ferrell said the immediate need was for help in the bullpen after Webster lasted just 2 1-3 innings on Tuesday night. Ferrell did not know who would start Sunday.

Beato had a 2.13 ERA in 41 1-3 innings for Pawtucket, while Wright has just been a starter in the minors with a 4-5 record in 16 starts.
