CLEVELAND (AP) — The Indians have recalled rookie right-hander Danny Salazar from Triple-A Columbus to make his major league debut against Toronto.

Salazar, who began this season in Double-A ball, will face R.A. Dickey as the Indians complete their three-game series against the Blue Jays on Thursday.

To make room for Salazar, the Indians optioned reliever Preston Guilmet to the Clippers. He made his big-league debut Wednesday.

The hard-throwing Salazar went a combined 5-5 with a 3.08 ERA in 17 starts between Akron (AA) and Columbus. He averaged 11.8 strikeouts per nine innings, and didn’t give up an earned run over his final 16 innings in the minors.

Salazar missed most of the 2011 season after undergoing Tommy John reconstructive surgery.
