Try This: Get rollin’ in Amboy

Amboy Territorial Days features a variety of timber sports as competitors vie in skills from ax throwing to pole climbing. The logging show begins at 1 p.m. today. There will also be a carnival, craft booths, live music and activities. Sunday will begin with Mount Tum Tum Fun Run, featuring a Little Logger Lap at 8:30 a.m., and 5K and 10K courses at 9 a.m., followed by the popular lawn-mower races beginning at 1 p.m.

9 a.m. to midnight today and 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.

Free, $5 for log show and lawn-mower races, $25 for fun run, free for children’s lap.

2. Tonight on the town

Magenta Improv Theater presents a family-friendly comedy show done in the style of “Whose Line is It Anyway?” The group takes suggestions from the audience to create skits.

When: 7:30 tonight.

3. Polynesian pop

From American tiki bars to surf music, Tiki Kon is a celebration of the wave of Polynesian influence in music, fashion and food that occurred in the United States in the decades after World War II. Musical performances, cocktails, seminars, tiki bar crawls, vintage fashion and classic cars will fill the weekend.

When: 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. today and 10 a.m. to noon Sunday.

4. Bursting with pride

The Lyles Myles Run and Walk will benefit AIDS/HIV outreach programs Martha’s Pantry, Cascade AIDS Project and Global Partners for Development. Started by Lyle Smith as a way to finally win a race, the fun 5K has one rule: participants who cross the finish line before Smith are disqualified. The race then leads into the 19th annual Saturday in the Park Pride celebration. The LGBT event is best known for its family-friendly picnic atmosphere with music and entertainment on the main stage. A variety of vendors, informational booths and a beer garden will also be on hand.

When: 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. walk, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. picnic events, today.

5. Machines versus monsters

When the monstrous Kaiju rise from the bottom of the Pacific Ocean, they viciously attack coastal cities of the world, consuming and killing for years on end. To combat the giants, mankind develops massive robots called Jaegers that are controlled simultaneously by two pilots. The fate of the war rests in the hands of a former pilot (Charlie Hunnam) and an untested trainee (Rinko Kikuchi). The movie “Pacific Rim” is rated PG-13.
