OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) — The Boston Red Sox have recalled left-hander Drake Britton from Triple-A Pawtucket and optioned outfielder Jackie Bradley, Jr. to the minor league team.

The moves were made Sunday before the Red Sox faced the Oakland Athletics. Boston manager John Farrell said Britton was added to help combat Oakland’s heavy left-handed lineup.

Britton started on Tuesday for Pawtucket after beginning the season at Double-A Portland. The 24-year-old Britton, involved in a DUI during spring training, has yet to make his major league debut.
