SALEM — A 32-year-old man died after losing control of his pickup truck along Detroit Lake and plunging into the water.

The man was traveling on Highway 22E just before midnight Saturday when the pickup crossed lanes, went down a steep embankment, hit the lake and submerged into the water. The crash was witnessed by other motorists.

About three hours after the crash, two Oregon State Police troopers found the submerged pickup and pulled it up to the road with a tow truck. The victim was dead inside.

Oregon State Police has not yet released the victim’s name.
