MIAMI (AP) — FIU has dismissed running back Kedrick Rhodes from the team for a violation of team policy.

Rhodes was the Panthers’ leading rusher last season with 714 yards and was slated to start this year as a senior. In 2011, he ran for 1,149 yards.

The school announced the dismissal on Monday but did not specify the violation.

The Miami Herald reported this weekend that Rhodes had been arrested for firing a gun on campus.

Without Rhodes, sophomore Shane Coleman becomes the leading returning rusher among running backs for FIU. The sophomore had eight carries for 34 yards last season.
