KALAMA — Spring chinook retention reopens Tuesday through July 31 in the Kalama River.

The daily limit is six hatchery chinook, but only two adults, from markers at the river mouth to 1,000 feet downstream of the fishway at Kalama Falls Hatchery.

Spring chinook fishing has been closed due to an anticipated weak return, but the hatchery escapement has been reached.

Barbless hooks are required to fish for salmon or steelhead.
