STANFORD, Calif. (AP) — Hall of Fame Stanford women’s basketball coach Tara VanDerveer has received a new contract.

The coach says she signed a new deal but did not offer specifics. She had two years remaining on her previous contract, through the 2014-15 season. The Cardinal missed reaching a sixth straight Final Four in VanDerveer’s 27th season at Stanford and 34th overall as a Division I head coach. They lost in the NCAA tournament’s Spokane Regional semifinals, 61-59 to Georgia.

VanDerveer, who turned 60 last month, has a 742-152 Stanford record and 894-203 career mark.

Athletic director Bernard Muir indicated after the season that he looked forward to the program continuing to perform at such a high level with VanDerveer leading the way.

Stanford’s team leaves in late August for a tour of Italy.
