BOSTON (AP) — The Boston Red Sox activated shortstop Stephen Drew from the disabled list and optioned third baseman Brock Holt to Triple-A Pawtucket before a game against the New York Yankees.

Drew, hitting .233 with five homers and 31 RBIs, missed 16 games because of a strained right hamstring. He is in Saturday’s starting lineup, playing shortstop and batting eighth.

Holt hit .290 (9 for 31) with eight RBIs in 10 games with the Red Sox.
