A Vancouver woman fell asleep at the wheel and took out a power pole on Highway 503 south of Amboy Monday morning, authorities said.

Laura Johnson, 44, of Vancouver was driving a 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee south on the highway when she fell asleep and went off the roadway, crashing into a power pole just after 6 a.m., according to Washington State Patrol.

Johnson suffered minor injuries and was transported to Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center, where she was later released.

The crash blocked traffic in both directions for two hours before one lane was opened to alternating traffic. Clark Public Utilities crews were dispatched.
