Talking Points: Braun hurts all us fantasy owners

What’s the buzz from the world of sports? Here are some items that will have people talking:

1

We, the fantasy baseball owners of America (and beyond), do not accept Ryan Braun’s apology.

What was he thinking by not challenging the suspension for the rest of the season?

Obviously Braun was not thinking about those of us with him on our fantasy teams.

Here we are, cruising along with a top offensive producer and … BAM! No more.

Yeah, sure, he might as well have been felled by a season-ending injury. Same result, right? No Braun in the lineup.

But this is different. Braun could have appealed, and the end result may or may not have been handed down right away. And we still could have won our fantasy league!

(Just for the record… those of us at Talking Points Central don’t endorse PED use and those that do should be punished. We just didn’t think Braun would be suspended until next season. Darn it.)

Cowboys Stadium might soon be a thing of the past.

No, the behemoth sitting in Arlington, Texas, isn’t going away. But the name appears to be on the way out.

The Cowboys have never been one to have a corporate logo attached to their buildings. Remember back to the Texas Stadium days. That building stood for 37 years in Irving, Texas, without a sponsorship.

Reports say Cowboys Stadium is partnering up with AT&T for 2014 and beyond. The exact name has not been revealed.

AT&T, which also sponsors the name of the home to the San Francisco Giants, would join American Airlines (NBA’s Mavericks and Heat arenas) for doubling-up on naming rights.

Which makes it doubley nice that we still have the Rose Garden Arena in our backyard. At least for now.

The Greg Oden watch is on again.

Yahoo Sports reported Monday that Greg Oden will work out for the Sacramento Kings and New Orleans Pelicans today in Indianapolis.

According to Yahoo, the former No. 1 pick by the Portland Trail Blazers has already met with the Miami Heat, San Antonio Spurs, Boston Celtics, Dallas Mavericks and Kings. The Pelicans are poised to offer a deal paying close to $3 million.

As of Monday afternoon, the Kings and Pelicans had been the only teams granted permission to watch Oden’s workout.
