Letter: Rally to save parks

The Columbian
Published: July 24, 2013, 5:00pm

With recent and imminent changes in Clark County, our undeveloped parks are still in danger of being surplused (e.g.: traded, sold or gifted), to selected organizations and individuals. Many of you were involved in saving Cougar Creek Woods Community Park in 2011 and 2012. Once again, the problem is here and once again, we must act.

Cougar Creek Woods Park and other undeveloped parks do not appear on the 2013 “County Property Surplus Inventory.” They are not listed on the parks inventory. Be aware that there is a new proposal for residential development. The community banded together and prevented it before. It’s time to do so again. Come to a rally on July 28 from 3:30 to 5 p.m. at Felida Community Park, Northwest 122nd Street, west of Northwest 36th Avenue. Learn what’s really at stake.
