LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) — Prolific thoroughbred sire Unbridled’s Song has died after a large mass was discovered in his sinus cavities and around the optic nerves.

Taylor Made Stallions, where the horse stood his entire career, said the 20-year-old son of 1990 Kentucky Derby winner Unbridled suffered a rapid decline in health and was euthanized Friday.

The Nicholasville farm said Unbridled’s Song started showing acute neurological symptoms on Thursday and was taken to a Lexington equine hospital. After an MRI, the mass was determined to be invasive, aggressive and inoperable.

Taylor Made President and CEO Duncan Taylor said Unbridled’s Song had “looks, pedigree, speed, and presence” and was loved by the farm’s staff.

Taylor Made said Unbridled’s Song has sired 730 winners from more than 1,000 starters.
