TACOMA — Police say two men who died in a high-speed crash in Tacoma were apparently fleeing from a convenience store where they had stolen beer.
Officer Loretta Cool says the fleeing car was not being chased by police at the time, about 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, when it went out of control at a construction site 10 blocks from the store.
Both men were ejected and died at the scene.
Cool says the clerk suffered a minor injury in a confrontation.
She says the men left the store with beer but left much of it in the parking lot as they sped away.
