Rose Village — The Fort Vancouver Lions Club made the national spotlight this month when it was picked as Club of the Month in the July/August edition of Lions Magazine. The local group is one of more than 46,000 clubs around the world, making the selection “a big deal,” membership chairman Roy Pulliam wrote in an email. The magazine column presents a brief history of the Fort Vancouver chapter, which began in 1955, and points out its extensive charity work, including an annual track and field event for visually impaired children and the Walk and Knock food drive. The group meets at noon Fridays at Bill’s Chicken and Steak House, 2200 St. Johns Blvd.
