Letter: Appeal for more security ignored

In reply to Bill Kelley’s May 24 letter, “Yet another witch hunt,” if he was a relative of one of the people killed in Benghazi, he would probably have a different opinion.

Pat Smith, mother of Sean Smith, who died in the attack, stated that Hillary Clinton/President Obama said they would get back to her on the details of her son’s death. To date, they have not. Actually, the government has stonewalled most requests for evidence.

An inexperienced private security company was contracted to guard the consulate. Ambassador Chris Stevens requested several times, via email, that they required greater security and was denied. It’s alleged that someone, from the government, told the Special Forces team based in Tripoli to stand down and not fly to Benghazi during the attack. Furthermore, there were reports of 200 “security incidents” between June 2011 and July 2012 in Libya, 50 of them in Benghazi. Before you blame the Republicans, be aware that Charlene Lamb, a State Department senior official, stated they had plenty of monies in the account for security. I watched the hearings. I heard Rep. Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., and her minions, on mainstream TV, try to blame the Republicans due to the sequester. That must be where Kelley got his information.

Really, a witch hunt?
