Oklahoma tops Va. Tech to win Blacksburg regional

BLACKSBURG, Va. (AP) — Hector Lorenzana had two hits and three RBIs to help Oklahoma win the NCAA Blacksburg regional title with a 10-4 victory over Virginia Tech on Sunday night.

The Sooners (43-19) advanced to next week’s super regional against either LSU or Louisiana-Lafayette. The season ended for Virginia Tech (40-22).

Oklahoma put the game away with six runs in the ninth, including two on a single by Jack Mayfield and two more on Lorenzana’s double.

The Sooners scored four runs and had five hits in the sixth inning and took advantage of two Virginia Tech errors. Max White and Lorenzana had RBI singles.

Virginia Tech scored a run in the sixth to cut the Sooners’ lead to 4-3, but two runners were thrown out at the plate.

Jake Fisher (3-2) got the win, giving up three runs and seven hits in 5 1-3 innings. Eddie Campbell (2-5) took the loss.
