CINCINNATI (AP) — The Reds have placed right-hander Johnny Cueto on the disabled list with a sore muscle in his back, the second time this season that he’s been sidelined by the injury.

The Reds called up right-hander Pedro Villarreal to take Cueto’s place Wednesday in the final game of a series against the Colorado Rockies. He was on turn to start for Triple-A Louisville.

Cueto was on the disabled list from April 15 to May 19 with a strained muscle in the right side of his back. He made three starts after his return, going 2-0 with a 1.80 ERA. He allowed only one hit in eight innings of a 6-0 win in Pittsburgh on Friday.

Manager Dusty Baker says the back muscle bothered Cueto a little in Pittsburgh.
