Three locals selected in baseball draft

Locals drafted

Three baseball players from Vancouver were selected Saturday during Major League Baseball’s First-Year Player Draft:

Tim Hergert (Heritage High School senior), shortstop, bats right/throws right, selected No. 883 by the Atlanta Braves.

Max Beatty (Pacific Lutheran University junior, Fort Vancouver High School), right-handed pitcher, R/R, selected No. 958 by the San Diego Padres.

Michael McCann (Columbia River High School senior), catcher, L/R, selected No. 1,197 by the Seattle Mariners.– The Columbian
