MOSCOW (AP) — President Vladimir Putin has lifted Russia’s ban on alcohol at sports events for the 2018 World Cup, and signed a law granting FIFA the right to approve commerce and advertising around all stadiums during the event.

The law says FIFA must give written approval to commercial activity or advertising within a 1.2-mile radius of stadiums on match day. The punishment for violations is not specified.
