Vikings’ Greenway to have minor knee surgery

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) — Minnesota Vikings linebacker Chad Greenway has been scheduled for arthroscopic knee surgery to address joint pain.

Greenway was absent from practice on Tuesday and coach Leslie Frazier said the eighth-year veteran will have the procedure done Wednesday. Frazier didn’t specify which leg. The coach said Greenway would be fully recovered in time for training camp, which starts in 612 weeks.

A recent MRI test revealed some minor damage, and the Vikings decided the operation would be best done now rather than risk an aggravation later in the season.

Greenway tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee in his first exhibition game in 2006, an injury that wiped out his rookie year. He has not missed a game since.
