LACEY — A 4-year-old boy who fell into an apartment building swimming pool at Lacey has died.

Police Lt. Phil Comstock told The Olympian that the boy died Sunday night at Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital in Tacoma, where he had been in critical condition.

Police says the boy’s father fell asleep and woke up Saturday to realize his son was not in the apartment. He searched the grounds and found him in the pool.

The father, police and medics gave him CPR. He was taken to Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia and then airlifted to Tacoma.
